The Brothers Solomon

They should make Charles Manson and The Son of Sam watch this movie every single day of their lives until they feel sorry for what they have done.

Will Arnett and Will Forte star as John and Dean Solomon – two home schooled brothers who lost their mother at a young age.  Now, their father, Ed (Lee “They wouldn’t give me a guest starring role on the new Bionic Woman TV show, so I am stuck doing this” Majors) has slipped into a coma, and the boys decide they need to give Dad a reason to live.  Of course, their plan is to get a woman pregnant, so Dad can try to get out of his coma to be a grandfather.

Will these two morons find some woman willing to harvest their seed?

The Brothers Solomon is the worst comedy I have ever seen in my life.  It might have been funny if director Bob Odenkirk and writer Forte decided to make this into a parody of bad comedies, but it’s just bad.  Frankly, it’s so bad I was worried I would not make it out alive.

The dialogue is not funny.

The acting is not funny.

The jokes are not funny.

The Brothers Solomon is a flat, lifeless movie where people cursing is supposed to be the joke instead of real set ups, punch lines, wacky hijinx, slapstick antics and other comedic techniques employed by good comedies that make you laugh.

Worst of all, the two brothers come off like complete, over caffeinated morons with absolutely no redeeming values or characteristics at all.  We don’t learn much about these guys or how they developed into the pathetic figures they have become, which doesn’t give us any reason to like them when the story takes a turn and tells us we are supposed to feel sympathy for them and see the two outcastes as underdogs who deserve our support and love.  Instead, they don’t deserve the $10 for the ticket nor the hour and half of our time wasted if you end up in a theater showing this movie.  Both Forte and Arnett have done better work, so let’s hope neither one makes this mistake again.

Even the music is stupid!
