Think Like A Man
2 Waffles!

Why does a movie titled Think Like A Man need to be over 2 hours long? We men are simple animals. It only takes 10 or 15 minutes to figure out how we think, which is so obvious as Think Like A Man feels like the movie that will never end once we embark on the third act.

Dominic (Michael Ealy), Jeremy (Jerry "Don't Call Me Turtle" Ferrara), Cedric (Kevin Hart), Michael (Terrence Jenkins), and Zeke (Romany Malco) are best buddies all facing different problems with the women in their life. Each one has his issues from lacking the ability to commit to being a player to lacking a plan for life, and these ladies decide to do something about it after reading an advice book by Steve Harvey.

Now, Mya (Meagan Goode), Lauren (Taraji P. Henson), Candace (Regina Hall), and Kristen (Gabrielle Union) are taking matters into their own hands and using Harvey's advice to think like a man to get the respect and relationship you want.

Will they be successful?

What will happen when the guys find out?

Think Like A Man is a movie of excess, but even though we have too many characters and too many subplots to follow the movie still comes up short on material.

Writers Keith Merryman and David Newman come up with a very good way to turn what is essentially a self-help book into a movie with a story and characters, they just don't know how to end it all or keep it funny enough throughout the entirety of the film.

After starting off as a strong comedy, Think Like A Man completely loses momentum and becomes a dragging, boring, predictable drama as Merryman, Newman and director Tim Story try to come to some sort of conclusion.

Much of the comedy is driven by Hart, who gets very silly, but also very hilarious. As the angry guy going through a divorce, Hart finds the right moments to speak out, act crazy and make us laugh at his immature antics.

If only the rest of the movie had his spark and energy. Not that everyone is horrible, but no one else is as memorable. Each character is heading down roads and plots we have seen so many times before, without anything new to add to it.

Think Like A Man is rated PG-13 for sexual content, some crude humor, and brief drug use.
