A Very Harold & Kumar
3D Christmas

4 Waffles!

This movie is so mischievous, you might have to be Gandhi or Mother Theresa to get off of Santa's naughty list after buying a ticket.

Kal Penn is back as Kumar, and life isn't working out very well for him. It is about 6 years since the incidents of the second Harold and Kumar movie, and the two pals have grown apart. Kumar has flunked out of med school for failing a drug test and spends his days in the old apartment playing video games, while Harold (John Cho) has gone on to a successful career in finance, has gotten married and is trying to have a baby with the lucky lady.

On Christmas Eve, a mysterious package shows up at Kumar's door for Harold, and he decides he should bring it over to his pal. However, once at Harold's house, the very special Christmas tree brought in by Harold's very frightening father-in-law, Mr. Perez (Danny Trejo), gets burned down.

As they set out to find a replacement tree before Mr. Perez comes back from midnight mass, Harold and Kumar find themselves embroiled in yet another series of crazy adventures.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas succeeds in being one of the better 3D movies of the year, while mocking the whole trend of 3D movies, along with being one of the funniest sequels of the year, while mocking movie sequels. Ultimately, I love this movie because writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg walk an amazingly fine line between heart and funny, while also giving us plenty of hilarious situations for the two buddies we have come to know and love.

For hardcore fans, we get lots of inside jokes, like references to Penn's and Cho's other work, but the movie is one you could enjoy if you have never seen either of the previous two Harold and Kumar movies. We all have friends who drift apart, so we can all relate to the troubles Harold and Kumar find themselves in as they try to keep the friendship alive and see that old spark coming back as the night goes on.

Then, the comedy is over-the-top and hilarious. It's a chance for all of us to be naughty laughing the antics that would get most of us divorced, arrested and probably killed.

Most of all, we like these guys and want to see what is going on in their lives, so the sequel is welcome news. Will we get a #4?

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is rated R for strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence.
